Salsambo
Salsambo began as a project to deliver salsa and latin jazz in November of 2006. The director, Gilbert Roman (who also directed Conquista Musical of Sacramento for many years) embarked upon this project using many talented musicians from Sacramento and outlying areas.
Inspired by bands and individuals such as Ray Barretto, Tito Rodriguez, Tito Puente, Machito, Willie Rosario, Bobby Valentin, Manny Oquendo y Libre, Eddie Palmieri and many others, Salsambo has developed into one of the more solid, hard-hitting Salsa/Latin Jazz bands in the area. The band has a strong, powerful vocal section led by Jose Ochoa of Cuba, a swinging rhythm section, and a blazing horn section that will make you move.
