Sacramento's SalsaCraZee presents Sacramento's First New Years Eve Salsa PartySacramento — December 8, 2008 —Sacramento's SalsaCraZee Meetup Group presents Sacramento’s First New Years Eve Salsa Party December 31, 2008, an all night celebration of dance with live music and performances, taking place at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento.
This is a huge dance event to bring in the new year with a very fun type of dancing. The party is inteded to unite the salsa community and to welcome new dancers.
This formal attire event begins on new years eve, Wednesday, featuring social dancing, performances, live music, dance contest, raffle, and champagne toast.
The performances will be featuring Emilie Andagan with the Yemaya Dance Team & Oscar Castaneda of Salsa ON2. Both are local Sacramento dance instructors and performers who will be demonstrating their excellence in dance and choreography.
Live music will be provided by Salsambo. This live band specializes in salsa and Latin jazz. They are based out of Sacramento and were featured at the 2008 Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. The band has a strong, powerful vocal section led by Jose Ochoa of Cuba, a swinging rhythm section, and a blazing horn section that will make you move.
A Jack & Jill dance contest will give every dancer a chance to win a $500 prize. Contestants will be randomly paired with a partner to show the judges their best leading or following abilities. This is a test of each partner's social dance skill which often requires improvisation. It is very entertaining to watch what two strangers can do without any preparation.
